Frequently asked questions

Short answers to what decision makers ask us most. For anything else, talk to us.
Do signers need a crypto wallet or tokens?

No. Signers just sign in and sign. Your organisation’s Veylent server records the signature on the blockchain and pays the small network fee.

Is the document stored on the blockchain?

No. Only a fingerprint of the document and a timestamp are recorded. The fingerprint can’t be turned back into the document, and the document itself is never uploaded anywhere by Veylent.

Can someone verify a document without Veylent?

They don’t need an account or any software. Scanning the QR code with a phone camera opens the verification page. The Veylent Verify mobile app and the desktop app also verify documents.

What happens if a document is changed after signing?

Opening the file in the Veylent app recalculates its fingerprint. If anything changed, even one character, it no longer matches the record on the blockchain and Veylent reports that the document has been altered.

Can several people sign the same document?

Yes, one after another. Each signature links to the one before it, so a verifier sees the complete signing history in order.

Where is our data kept?

In your own infrastructure. Accounts, saved signatures and the encrypted signer details live in your database. Only fingerprints and timestamps go on the public blockchain.

Which blockchain does Veylent use?

Polygon, a widely used public network with low fees, by default. A public network is what lets anyone verify records independently of your organisation.

Is a Veylent signature legally binding?

Veylent provides strong evidence of who signed what and when. Whether an electronic signature satisfies a particular legal requirement depends on your jurisdiction and the type of document, so we recommend reviewing your use cases with your counsel. We’re glad to help with that conversation.

Which platforms are supported?

The desktop app runs on macOS, Windows and Linux. Verification works in any modern browser, and through the Veylent Verify mobile app.

What happens to our records if we stop using Veylent?

The fingerprints and timestamps stay on the public blockchain permanently, and each signed PDF carries its own signing record. Your database stays yours.

How much does it cost?

Pricing depends on your deployment and the number of users. Book a demo and we’ll put together a proposal.
